Dear Region 1 Members,
Hope everyone had a safe end to the school year, enjoyed the NATA meeting in St. Louis and is enjoying the summer. The BOD met in St. Louis, as well as this past spring in April. Below is a summary of the latest IATA information that you need to be aware of:
- The BOD approved a new logo for the IATA and is working on an organized marketing plan. More info to follow.
- The IATA Student Congress continues to evolve and is busy working on their goals, objectives and securing additional members.
- REMINDER: IATA State Meeting & Annual Symposium, Nov 8-9 at the Lisle Hilton. Please check the IATA website for more details & online registration as time draws nearer.
- The following BOD positions will be open for elections for this fall:
Treasurer / Membership Director / Region 1 Representative / Region 2 Representative
-Please continue to check the IATA website for candidate information after September 8th, with voting beginning October 8th. Any questions about the nomination or voting process, please contact President-Elect Mike Sullivan at sullyatc@comcast.net.
- CONGRATULATIONS to the following IATA Members that received awards at the 2008 NATA Annual Meeting:
-Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer: Brian Robinson
-Athletic Trainer Service Award: Phil Voorhis, Ted Hirschfeld & Gina Delmont
-GLATA Star TRACKS Leadership Grant Recipient: Eric Streeter
-Public Relations Award: Emily Whitson, Joe Whitson, and Greg Eberle
- Starting in August 2008, there will be a new “IATA News” on the IATA Website.
- Steve McInerney was appointed the new IATA Governmental Affairs Director in April.
- A new IATA Archivist was voted on/approved by the BOD. Rich Carey will serve this position
- CVent was approved by the BOD as a vendor to process IATA online financial transactions.
- The IATA Secondary Schools Committee has been established and is busy working on projects.
- A new “Do it Right” media campaign is being developed to recognize those in the media.
- Donations to the IATA-PAC Fund to help future lobbying efforts are ALWAYS appreciated and can be sent to IATA Treasurer Kathy Powell (contact info at www.illinoisathletictrainers.org)
- REMINDER: Scholarship/Award Info on IATA website-nomination deadline is JULY 15th !
