The recent BOD meeting at College of Dupage on February 8th proved to be another great opportunity for your board to improve the standing of the athletic trainer in the State of Illinois. Below you will find highlights from our meeting. Also, please pay special attention to information regarding the IATA-PAC Raffle Tickets.
February BOD meeting Highlights
- The BOD continues to push forward with the marketing strategic plan which has now moved onto the development of a new website.
- The IATA still needs you! We are currently seeking applications for a Public Relations Director, please contact President Sullivan or myself if you are interested. Applications will be taken until August for upcoming vacant board positions, which include Region 3 and 4 Reps, Vice President, and Secretary.
- Please remember to pass along any note worthy news or updates to me for the IATA News.
Calling all secondary school athletic trainers
- Please be sure to fill out the secondary schools survey that is currently on the e-blast. This project will help our secondary schools committee keep up to date records of what secondary schools in region three have athletic training services.
- The IHSA has recently added a spot for athletic trainer on their website for the listing of the athletic trainer at each school, make sure your athletic director is aware of this and updates your school’s information!
March is National Athletic Training Month!
- Be sure to check the IATA and NATA websites for ideas and information for NATM
- Please make sure to report all your NATM activities to Mike Overturf, so that he can pass them along to GLATA and the NATA. Mike’s email is: moverturf@athletico.com

- We hope to see all of you in Ft. Wayne for this year’s GLATA Symposium March 12th-14th
- The 2009IATA Golf Outing is set for Monday, June 29th @ at Broken Arrow Golf Club in Lockport
- The NATA Convention is in San Antonio this year and will run June 17th-20st. We hope to see you there!
- The 2009 IATA state meeting is set for November 7th-8th and will again be at the Hilton in Lisle. Check the IATA website for more info.
- Star Tracks applications are due to the district director by April 1st. Please contact me or go to www.glata.org for more information.
IATA –PAC Raffle
- IATA-PAC (Political Action Committee) raffle is now online! Tickets are $25/ticket. This is our major fundraiser to support our efforts to educate legislators about our profession. We highly encourage all members to get involved with this activity. This event is vital to our ongoing efforts to advocate our positions on issues important to the athletic training community.
- All members have received an email invite and are encouraged to invite friends, coworkers, and family!
