Date Legislator Name Address Your name Address Dear : I am writing to introduce myself as one of the 1400 Licensed Athletic Trainers in the state of Illinois. As you may or may not know, Licensed Athletic Trainers provide quality health care for physically active people in many different settings. Currently I am employed by where my work involves . Approximately 20 years ago the Illinois Athletic Trainers Practice Act (ILCS225) was passed to protect the health and well-being of physically active people in the state of Illinois. As you can imagine, many things have changed since the passage of the act and the practice of athletic training has evolved to encompass many different areas. Today athletic trainers work in traditional settings such as high schools and colleges but a large percentage work in clinical, hospital, and industrial settings helping physically active people return to their respective activities. Athletic trainers bill and are reimbursed for their services under the scope of the Illinois Athletic Trainers Practice Act. As preventative, educational, and cost-effective methods are utilized in today's healthcare system, the athletic trainer is the perfect person to help people prevent and treat many different types of injuries and conditions. Enclosed is information regarding athletic training and the different ways athletic trainers help the physically active return to pre-injury status.
