<p>The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is seeking medical professionals for the 2010 event on Sunday, October 10. Medical volunteers are a vital part of the Chicago Marathon, lending medical support to 45,000 race participants- from world-class athletes to recreational runners- as they take on the challenge of running 26.2 miles on the streets of Chicago.</p>
<p>The event is putting together an expert medical team to support the runners on race day. More than 800 medical professionals will staff 21 aid stations along the race course, and several key medical care facilities at the Finish Line in Grant Park. We are seeking the following medical professionals: MD/DO, EMT, RN, DPM, PT, ATC, DC, PA, Residents and Students.</p>
<p><strong><em>If you have already registered</em></strong> and have faxed us a copy of your license, please disregard this email. Look for more updates from Dr. George Chiampas and his staff in August.</p>

<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p>Qualified individuals must hold current state licensure as an Athletic Trainer, Physical or Occupational and have experience in the occupational setting.  Ergonomic training / certification is encouraged but not required.  Candidates must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and understanding of coaching principles.  Proof of professional liability insurance required.</p>
<p>A subcontracted agreement will be for 1 day per week, 3-4 hours per visit, between 1:00 – 5:00 pm, with the potential of additional hours as needed.  Compensation of $55 – $60 per hour will be negotiated based on experience.</p>

<p>The athletic trainer will have professional involvement in the comprehensive medical care of athletes and physically active individuals. The athletic trainer will recognize and assess athletic injuries, perform evaluations, rehabilitate athletic injuries, provide injury prevention education, sports safety, emergency care, and management of practices, games, screenings and events. Practices and games include but not limited to: football, lacrosse and rugby of all ages.</p>
<p>The athletic trainer will also be responsible for working with the marketing department. This allows the athletic trainer independence to develop relationships in the community. The athletic trainer will be able to incorporate and aide in building the Sports Medicine Program. This is an opportunity for individuals who wish to further develop their professional skills.</p>

<p>Duties: This position will assist in the Supervision of initial care, evaluation, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Manage all administrative aspects of the athletic training room, including maintenance of injury records and treatment logs.Provide athletic training coverage for home athletic practices and events as assigned. Provide athletic training coverage for selected away athletic competitions. Supervise Assistant Student Athletic Training Team. Arrange for additional medical equipment and personnel. Assist in the management and supervision of operating budgets. Coordinate, purchase, distribution, collection and inventory of all equipment and supplies.</p>
