Bank of America Chicago Marathon

• Attention Medical Professionals:

  The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is seeking medical professionals for the 2010 event on Sunday, October 10. Medical volunteers are a vital part of the Chicago Marathon, lending medical support to 45,000 race participants- from world-class athletes to recreational runners- as they take on the challenge of running 26.2 miles on the streets of Chicago.

  The event is putting together an expert medical team to support the runners on race day. More than 800 medical professionals will staff 21 aid stations along the race course, and several key medical care facilities at the Finish Line in Grant Park. We are seeking the following medical professionals: MD/DO, EMT, RN, DPM, PT, ATC, DC, PA, Residents and Students.

  If you have already registered and have faxed us a copy of your license, please disregard this email. Look for more updates from Dr. George Chiampas and his staff in August.

  If you are interested in volunteering, please visit www.chicagomarathon.com/MedicalVolunteers to learn more about the medical staff volunteer program and to register to volunteer. The registration deadline is Friday, September 24, if space allows.

IATA Elections and Appointed Positions

• CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – IATA ELECTIONS/APPOINTED POSITIONS

  The IATA is currently seeking applications for the following elected IATA Board of Director’s positions; Treasurer, Membership Director, Region 1 Representative, and Region 2 Representative.  The appointed positions(non-elected) of Governmental Affairs, Development Director, Education Chair, Committee on Revenue Chair, and Archivist are open for application as well.  If you are interested or to apply, please submit a letter of interest as well as a resume to President-Elect Mike Overturf at moverturf@athletico.com.  Nominations will be accepted through September 15, 2010.

Congratulations!!!

• CONGRATULATIONS to the Illinois State University Student Athletic Training program for winning the NATA Student Quiz Bowl.   Representing GLATA and IATA, the ISU team won the cup, in an exciting manner the team came from behind, on a daily double, risking all their points which placed them in second going into the final jeopardy round.  In final Jeopardy, the team again took a big risk, which paid off with the victory!
