Andy Renner
President- Elect
November 2023 marked 20 years as a Certified Athletic Trainer for Andy. He has spent the majority of his career in the secondary school setting, while also gaining experience in collegiate, clinical, professional sports, and physician practice environments.
In 2011, Andy began collaborating with fellow athletic trainers in his high school conference through quarterly meetings. This initiative grew into the Southwestern Conference Athletic Trainers organization, which now serves as a continuing education (CEU) provider.
Andy expanded his commitment to the profession in 2017 by joining the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association (IATA) Board of Directors as the Region 4 Representative. In 2021, he completed the NATA Leadership Academy, an experience that helped prepare him for expanded leadership roles, including serving as IATA Vice President and eventually President.
Andy currently serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at Alton High School, where he consistently advocates for the advancement of his role and the quality of healthcare provided to student-athletes.
He resides in Alton with his wife of over 14 years, Marlena, and their son Joshua, a fourth grader. In his free time, Andy enjoys waterfowl hunting and spending time with family and friends. Family trips often include an adventure for Josh, a bookstore stop for Marlena, a great meal for everyone, and a craft beer pickup for Andy.
