Professional
All professional-level scholarships use a common application, similarly to how scholarships are administered from the NATA. The IATA is proud to offer three scholarships for professional athletic training students. Each scholarship honors a different aspect of athletic training history in Illinois. The deadline for all scholarship applications this year is February 28th.
The Robert C. Hamilton Award is in honor of a man that was a tremendous advocate for the profession of Athletic Training in the state of Illinois. Throughout his career Dr. Hamilton was the team physician for DePaul University, UIC, Gordon Tech HS, Taft HS, and St. Rita HS. Dr. Hamilton was instrumental in the Registration Act for Athletic Trainers in the state of Illinois. Dr. Hamilton was also a Bronze Star recipient for his service in the Vietnam war. One $500 scholarship is available annually.
Professional athletic training students are encouraged to apply for the Living Memorial Scholarship. Applicants should have a history of professional involvement and community service. Students must currently be admitted to a CAATE accredited professional athletic training program, be a member of the NATA, and have an NPI Number. Applicants should complete the application and writing prompts. Applicants need 1 sponsoring athletic trainer who is a member of the NATA and has an NPI number. The sponsoring athletic trainer should submit a letter of recommendation to the IATA Vice President. One $1000 scholarship will be issued annually. Scholarship checks will be issued to the attending school, upon proof of full-time enrollment for the fall semester after the scholarship is granted.

Applicants should have a history of leadership and leadership developed in the profession of athletic training. Students must currently be admitted to a CAATE accredited professional athletic training program, be a member of the NATA, and have an NPI Number. Applicants should complete the application and writing prompts. Applicants need 1 sponsoring athletic trainer who is a member of the NATA and has an NPI number. The sponsoring athletic trainer should submit a letter of recommendation to the IATA Vice President. One $500 scholarship is available annually. Scholarship checks will be issued to the attending school, upon proof of full-time enrollment for the fall semester after the scholarship is granted.
Post-Professional
Post-Professional scholarships also use a common application. The IATA is proud to offer two scholarships for post-professional athletic training students. Athletic trainers who are pursuing post-professional education at the masters or doctoral level are encouraged to apply for the Graduate Scholarship. Applicants should have an idea of their research project at the time of application. Students must be a member of the NATA and have an NPI Number. Applicants should complete the application and writing prompts. Applicants need 1 sponsoring athletic trainer who is a member of the NATA and has an NPI number. The sponsoring athletic trainer should submit a letter of recommendation to the IATA Vice President. Applications are due on February 28th. One $500 scholarship is awarded annually. Scholarships will be issued to the attending school upon proof of full-time enrollment for the fall semester after the scholarship is granted.

Applicants should have an idea of their research project at the time of application. Students must be a member of the NATA and have an NPI Number. Applicants should complete the application and writing prompts. Applicants need 1 sponsoring athletic trainer who is a member of the NATA and has an NPI number. The sponsoring athletic trainer should submit a letter of recommendation to the IATA Vice President. One $1000 scholarship is available annually. Applications are due to the IATA Vice President by February 28th. Scholarship checks will be issued to the attending school, upon proof of full-time enrollment for the fall semester after the scholarship is granted.
High school and college students whose parent(s) are an athletic trainer in the state of Illinois are encouraged to apply for the Offspring scholarship. Applicants should be admitted to a college/university and should be able to speak to their potential area of study. All majors/areas of study are welcome. The parent of the applicant must be a member of the NATA and have an NPI Number. Applicants should complete the application and writing prompts. Applicants need 1 sponsoring athletic trainer (parent) who is a member of the NATA and has an NPI number. A letter of recommendation should be submitted to the IATA Vice President. This cannot be from the parent AT. Two $500 scholarships are available annually. Applications are due to the IATA Vice President by February 28th. Scholarship checks will be issued to the attending school, upon proof of full-time enrollment for the fall semester after the scholarship is granted.
